FIVE YEARS LATER: WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM COMMUNITIES IN SUPPORT OF THE KHALIL GIBRAN INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY’S ORGANIZING EFFORT?

Please join us for a screening of Intifada NYC, a video about what happened to the Khalil Gibran International Academy (KGIA), the first Arabic dual language public school in NYC and a discussion following the video with:

Debbie Almontaser, educator and founding principal of KGIA who was forced to resign as a result of an anti-Muslim campaign against her and the school; Mona Eldahry, former steering committee member of Communities in Support of the Khalil Gibran International Academy (CISKGIA) and former director, Arab Women Active in the Arts and Media (AWAAM); and Donna Nevel, former steering committee member of CISKGIA, who teaches Participatory Action Research (PAR) at NYU/Steinhardt.
