Under a controlled choice/equitable admissions plan, the community determines what the controls will be (such as SES, race, special needs, language, etc.)–as long as they are rooted in equity. Equitable Admissions is inextricably connected to other issues of educational justice, such as allocation and distribution of resources, high stakes testing, and privatization of our school system. It is about creating conditions for systemic change for equity and justice in public education.
